What is metabolic syndrome?
The metabolic syndrome is a combination of:
- overweight;
- high bloodpressure;
- high cholesterol and
- high blood sugar (hyperglycemia).
The cause is too much food and too little exercise. Older people have a higher risk of metabolic syndrome.
The consequences of the metabolic syndrome are serious: include arteriosclerosis, heart attacks and other cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and gallstones.
What can you do to prevent metabolic syndrome?
People with belly fat have a risk of developing metabolic syndrome. In men, a waist circumference greater than 102 cm in women a waist circumference of more than 88 centimeters.
What can you do to prevent metabolic syndrome?
- Be sure to fall off slightly.
- Provide healthy exercise.
- Provide healthy food.
