What is syphilis?
Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by the bacterium (spirochete) Treponema pallidum. The disease occurs only in humans. Worldwide, each year 10 to 12 million people the disease. Etymology

There are different stages of the infection.

Origin of the disease
