A beard is the hair on the lower jaw of a man, but the term is also used more broadly to the overall facial hair to mouth, chin and cheeks.
History
It is unknown when they started to shave facial hair, but there are in any case images from the time of the first Egyptian dynasties left which have already shown beardless men. To wearing the beard or form in the course of history often given a more or less important social and cultural significance. So the beard style of Parisian existentialists gave them some eccentricity and associated the barbudos in Latin America with the (politics of) freedom struggle of Fidel Castro and Che Guevara.
In Europe and America, the beard nowadays usually completely shaved off, though the beard in the 21st century that seems to make a comeback.
Depilation
In women with an increased sensitivity to androgens is for hirsutism - they beard growth. Male-to-female transsexuals usually have facial hair. In both groups, the beard hairs plucked, wherein the blend method is most common. This one pushes an electric needle into the hair follicle, along which one weak alternating current leads which does release the hair. This is followed by a weak direct current (negatively charged), which makes the hair follicle close to burn.
Also, laser therapy is applied. These flashes of laser light to be focused on the hair so that it is released, and lights up the hair follicle close.
