Is Sunflower Oil Healthy

Sunflower oil is a vegetable oil, and is extracted from the "seeds" of the sunflower (Helianthus annuus). This oil is widely used in the kitchen to include the creation of lettuce and raw vegetables and the basis for many other products where vegetable oil is incorporated. It is a clear, golden-yellow oil with a soft taste. Especially cold-pressed oil is a high quality food, because many vitamins and bioactive substances are preserved. This oil should not be warmer than 30 ° C.

This oil contains a lot of unsaturated fatty acids, and is highly resistant against heat and can therefore be used for deep-frying to a temperature of about 180 ° C. Also in cosmetics sunflower oil is used.

In refined form the oil is used for various industrial purposes. Different types of sunflower oil are produced, such as high linoleic, high oleic and mid oleic. The high oleic sunflower oil contains at least 69% linoleic acid. The high oleic contains at least 82% oleic acid. The variation in fatty acid profile is strongly influenced by genetic characteristics, and climate.

After straining the seeds remaining flour is used as animal feed.
