Deficit Definition

What are deficits?

In case of failure phenomena a particular part of your body works suddenly less well or not at all. Dropouts vary by person. You can have one or more deficits. Examples of failure symptoms are:

*You can arm or a leg or not less movement (paralysis).
*Your mouth is crooked.
*You have difficulty speaking or swallowing.
*You'll see double or part of your vision is gone. For example, you can see all that's left of you is not.

Dropouts can go fast again, long time persist or remain.

What are common causes of failure symptoms?

Dropouts can be caused by problems in the brains, nerves or muscles. The most common causes are:

Stroke
At a stroke suddenly does a part of your brain cells anymore. You get a sudden loss of function, such as a cripple arm, a crooked mouth or hard to talk. The deficits arise from one moment to the other. They are not progressively worse.
A stroke can occur in several ways:

*Due to a temporary blockage of a blood vessel in the brains (TIA or transient ischemic attack).
*Because of a closed vessel in the brains. The blood then it can no longer flow through the blood vessel (cerebral infarction).
*By a broken blood vessel in the brains. Blood then leaks out of the blood vessel (cerebral hemorrhage).

Migraine
Migraine is an attack of severe headaches, often with vomiting. The cause is not known.
Besides headaches have deficits, such as temporarily to see less. Sometimes you get before the headache is temporary numbness, tingling, loss of strength on one side of your body.

Entrapment of spinal nerve (herniated disc in the back)
With a hernia, there is a spinal nerve in a fix. A hernia can give pain in one leg. The pain travels through into the lower leg, sometimes until the foot. The leg pain is sharp. Certain postures or movements, but also coughing, sneezing or straining, calls the radiating pain may or strengthen.
Sometimes you also have less strength in your leg or feeling as if your leg is asleep. You can also suffer from foot drop. It works not good to lift your foot while walking.

Facial paralysis (paresis Bellse)
The nerve on one side of your face is not working. This is probably due to inflammation. The nerve swells and becomes temporarily jammed.
The muscles of your face become paralyzed in one half. This gives you a drooping mouth and you have difficulty closing one eye.

MS
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a disease of the central nervous system. In the protective layer around nerves (myelin) is inflammation and scarring. As a result, some nerves work well or not.
MS often starts with fatigue and reduced vision in one eye. Sometimes there are muscle cramps and sensory disturbances such as tingling.

Conversion Disorder
At a conversion disorder your brains switch the operation of a body part temporarily. Doing the brains response to intense stress or anxiety or anger.
You can not move your arms or legs. Whether you have trouble speaking, seeing or hearing. There are no deviations in research to find brains, nerves or muscles.

Epilepsy
Epilepsy is a brain disease that attacks (seizures). The attacks vary by person.

*It may be that you just are suddenly not approachable, you drop off tail or something out of your hands.
*Whether you become unconscious, falls and goes with arms and legs shocks. You can unintentionally losing urine and example chew your tongue.

Perhaps you feel the attack coming. Example, you may feel strange tingling or a strange feeling rising from the stomach. After an attack, there can be no temporary paralysis.

A tumor in the brains (brain tumor)
Another less common cause of exacerbations of a brain tumor.

What should I do when deficits?

Take in the emergence of deficits always check with your doctor. Also, if you are unsure. And even if the symptoms pass after a few minutes. Call urgently GP. A quick assessment is important. If the doctor thinks you have a stroke, it sends you to the hospital for further examination and treatment.
