What is altitude sickness ?
Altitude sickness can occur if you too quickly to an altitude is over 2500 meters.
Altitude sickness is a signal of the body: do not go higher. If you ignore this signal can cause severe symptoms.
How is altitude sickness ?
Altitude Sickness has to do with the amount of oxygen in the air. The higher you go in the mountains, the less oxygen there is in the air. Your body adapts accordingly.
As of 2500 meter things change in your body. You breathe deeper and you start to make more red blood cells. Above about 3,000 meters is also your heart rate up.
Not everyone is suffering from altitude sickness. Why does an altitude sick and the other does not, is not known.
What are the symptoms of altitude sickness ?
You can recognize altitude sickness if you experience the following symptoms in the mountains:
*shortness of breath;
*headache;
*nausea;
*poor sleep;
*lack of appetite.
Go even higher? Dan:
*you are unsteady walking;
*you can talk difficult;
*touch confused.

Advice for altitude sickness
So you can try to avoid altitude sickness:
*Stay a few days at a level where you have no symptoms. Typically, two to three days enough. You can then rise gently. For complaints, you have to descend again.
